Lipstick reviw: L'Oréal Caresse

Hey dolls!
I'm going through a bit of a lippy phase.  By this I mean, if I'm left in a boots/superdrug/anywhere that sells lipstick for long enough, I will buy some of the glossy stuff.  It's not that I need it, it's more of a kid-at-christmas-fascination kinda thing.

To be honest, I'm insanely fussy when it comes to lip shades.  I love deep and bright reds, but don't get on with orangey tones or nudes.  Nudes completely wash me out as I'm pale as milk.  Sooo I've been after a pastely pink shade for a new while now, and more specifically a dupe of Dior Addict (which I typically lost on a night out *cries*).

So yesterday, after multiple swatches and contemplation I purchased the L'Oréal Caresse lipstick in shade 03 'lovely rose' and my God, is it lovely! It truly lives up to it's 'caresse' promise by soothing and moisturising the lips, offering a subtle glow, yet nothing too overly glossy or sticky which makes it extremely wearable.

To ensure you get longwear out of the lipstick, I'd suggest using Benefit posie tint as a base lip coat.  It gives a strong and rather strong rose shade, although it can be very drying.  The two products combined however, create the perfect girly-pink and moisturising combo.

For a neutral, rosey shade this product is absolutely perfect.  I was wearing next to no makeup today and a swish of this pink stuff was all it took to brighten up my face a bit; of course you could also use it to tone down smokey eyes (top versatility!).  I'd definitely recommend this lipstick to anyone, especially those with pale skin. Great buy for £8, thank you L'Oréal!

Temperley: Baby Blue for Summer

So, I know there's a massive hype about the Temperley A/W collection following London Fashion Week, but I'd just like to take a moment to appreciate the S/S designs... After all, Spring is yet to begin.  (Plus I've wanted to write about this for a long time before I started this blog). This collection has got to be one of my favourites by Alice Temperley. The sophisticated fit a flare dresses in innocent pastel hues give off a sense of lightness and femininity; and although it's true that the British designer has included bold prints in the collection, the wave of baby blue was the thing that caught my eye.

Temperley mixes blue with fine details of rich rusty shades to create subtle contrast and a unique floral design.  Worn with yellow platforms for a 'hint of sunshine.'  Ambers, golds and lemon yellows are the big thing for these coming months (yes, for every freakin' garment).  A good way to incorporate the trend into your style whilst avoiding looking like a giant banana is to use accents of the colour.  By this I mean, use yellow accessories to brighten up your look, in the way that Temperley does here.

Yet again, the white shirt boasts it versatile nature.  Famous for pulling an outfit together, particularly when paired with patterned skirts like these.

Yaaaay! Lace is still well and truly in girls.  A lot of us (myself included) have accumulated a fair amount of lace into our wardrobes over the past few seasons as it's been the go-to material.  Simply combine that fancy frilled top with a floaty skater skirt and you've got a summers dream outfit.

This dress has 'summer garden party' written all over it.

Gorgeous. Gorgeous. Gorgeous.
If there's one designer that can be relied upon to bring wearable feminine elegance to the LFW catwalks, it's Alice Temperley.  The Dior New Look-esque approach of full skirts and nipped in waists provide us with the most beautiful, perfect shapes for the season.  The baby blue combined with hot orange tints offer both subtlety and contrast; try this with your own look this spring for a fresh and feminine feel.

Hey beauts

Well hello there, bloggersphere!

I thought my first post should be somewhat an introductory speech.  My names Grace Walker, I'm an eighteen year old student (soon to be nineteen) studying English Literature, History and French at A-Level with the aspiration of going to University to study Languages from September.  I'd love to say which city I'll be in, but that of course all on depends on how tremendously well or disastrously wrong my summer exams go.  But I'm working hard, and whatever will be, will be.

I'm also known to be an arty person by my friends and family.  Though I don't study Fine Art anymore (I stopped after AS), it's still something I find fascinating and /I'm always eager to expand my knowledge by visiting galleries whenever I can.  Art has such a huge impact on fashion, so I think it would be silly to not take the two as a pair.  In my earlier days, I dreamt of becoming either an artist, fashion designer or writer, yet I've come to a solution by combining all three and aim to become a fashion/features journalist.

First and Foremost, I intend to make The Fashion Lingo a place to admire and analyse  my favaourite trends, give my own style tips and make you all drool over pictures of £3000 Valentino dresses.  Aside from this, I'll be writing about the places I go, people I meet and anything I find interesting or inspiring.  Sometimes I get this crazy urge to write things down; it could be about the tiniest thing from a funny conversation, to a blubbery sob story whilst I drown my sorrows in Ben & Jerry's. You never know what you're going to get...how exciting.

Enjoy!
